Grasshoppers Take Down the Crawdads, 6-2 on Wednesday Evening

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers take down the Hickory Crawdads, 6-2 on Wednesday, August 30. GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers take down the Hickory Crawdads, 6-2 on Wednesday, August 30. The Grasshoppers improved to 28-27 in the second half of the season while the Crawdads fell to 35-20. Greensboro outhit Hickory 13-7 while the Crawdads had two mishaps to the Grasshoppers one.

Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Luke Brown as he went 2-5 with a home run, a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Home runs for Greensboro were also tallied by Josiah Sightler, and Brenden Dixon. Brannigan and Bowen also tallied doubles for the Grasshoppers.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Thomas Harrington as he tallied five strikeouts and gave up three hits, one earned run, and three free bases on six innings of work. Harrington recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and improved to 3-5 on the season. Jack Carey recorded the hold for his eighth of the season while Ryan Harbin tallied his first save.

Winston Santons took the loss for the Crawdads and fell to 7-9 on the season.
